Run context

Set automatically on GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Semaphore, Buildkite and RWX. Set them yourself on any other provider.

Variable	Required	Meaning
SELECTIVE_API_KEY	Yes	The suite’s API key.
SELECTIVE_PLATFORM	Yes	Short name of the CI provider.
SELECTIVE_RUN_ID	Yes	One run of the suite; stable across reruns, new per commit.
SELECTIVE_RUN_ATTEMPT	Yes	Increments per rerun of the same run.
SELECTIVE_RUNNER_ID	Yes	The node; stable across runs and reruns.
SELECTIVE_BRANCH	Yes	Branch being built.
SELECTIVE_SHA	Yes	Head commit.
SELECTIVE_GIT_REPO	Yes	owner/repo.
SELECTIVE_GIT_PROVIDER	Yes	github, gitlab or bitbucket.
SELECTIVE_BASE_SHA	No	Base commit for the diff.
SELECTIVE_TARGET_BRANCH	No	Branch the change merges into.
SELECTIVE_PR_TITLE	No	Shown in the dashboard.
SELECTIVE_ACTOR	No	Shown in the dashboard.

Test selection

Variable	Meaning
SELECTIVE_TEST_MAP_RECORD=1	Record a test map on this run.
SELECTIVE_TEST_MAP_DISABLE=1	Run the full suite on this run and record nothing.
SELECTIVE_TEST_MAP_IGNORE=dir1,dir2	Extra directories to ignore when recording and selecting.

Runner flags

Passed to bundle exec selective rspec or bundle exec selective minitest; everything else is forwarded to the framework.

Flag	Meaning
--debug	Verbose connection and scheduling output.
--log	Write the runner log to a file.

CLI

Variable	Meaning
SELECTIVE_TOKEN	API token; overrides any stored login, never written to disk.
SELECTIVE_HOST	Server, when not app.selective.ci.
SELECTIVE_CONFIG_DIR	Config directory, default ~/.config/selective.
